Brisbane Golf Courses
Golfers may be delighted to discover that Queensland's
Brisbane as a
golf resort capital of Australia, and that out
of the 25 resort courses in the country, six are in
Brisbane. This article is pretty much devoted to the first
two golf courses developed in the area: Brisbane Golf Club
and Royal Queensland Golf Club.
Situated on Tennyson Memorial Avenue is the Brisbane Golf
Club.
The golf club was opened in November 1896 by eleven golf
enthusiasts, the first golf club in Brisbane and the third
in the state of Queensland.
The two other golf clubs that was formed prior Brisbane Golf
Club are North Queensland and Toowoomba Golf Clubs. The golf
plays were first done across the suburbs and the
inconvenience had forced the enthusiasts to move and look
for a permanent site. In 1903, the search had brought them
to a 110 acre land that still comprises to where it is
located until today. The golf club gave witness to the first
full length course in Queensland in 1904.

| The course was
again redesigned in 1926 by Scottish architect Dr Alister
MacKenzie.
Nowadays, aside from consistently staying as one the
country’s
top golf courses, the Golf Club's clubhouse boasts
its preserved colonial architecture and decor, making the
place more than an ordinary golf club.
The garden is equally
breathtaking, providing a peaceful ambience for everyone to
cherish. Brisbane Golf Club also offers it place for wedding
receptions, private parties, birthday celebrations,
Christmas banquets, luncheon, dinner functions, seminars and
business meetings. They've been accepting packages for
functions, cocktails, banquets and beverages.
Originally known simply as the Queensland Golf Club when it
was established in 1920, King George V and Winston S.
Churchill granted its Royal Charter only a year after,
earning its new name, Royal Queensland Golf Club. Located at
Hamilton, it was the second golf course to be established in
Brisbane City. The course was also designed by the architect
Dr Alister MacKenzie who is also responsible for the
Brisbane Golf Club. RQ Golf Club would then remain on its
name as Australia's top golf courses and has hosted three
Australian Open Championships and other championship events
both in the amateur and professional levels as well.
Royal Queensland Golf Club's majestic surroundings have
always been a famous venue for private functions. Its
clubhouse can accommodate up to
120 guests and has been a
favorite sot for engagement parties, family reunions,
birthday parties, fashion shows, charity events, fundraising
events and auctions. A professional Functions Coordinator
will also be offered to give assistance to customers. Menus
range from the usual finger foods to barbeque recipes and
fine dining.
